Joann Schmitt bought two tickets to see the world without leaving Omaha. For years she had purchased a membership in a travelogue series that has been abruptly canceled.
Joann said, "They would make a video of different parts of the world and we would go watch what we would never see in person.” The tickets for this season cost her $93.00.
Superior Attractions of Council Bluffs sponsored the series of films and lectures at an Omaha movie theater each month through April.
A call to superior attractions is answered by a recorded message. “Things simply did not work out to get all the film makers that were planned and so many things went wrong.”
In an e-mail to Joann, Mike Kinsel of Superior Attractions promised refunds. She says that’s been several weeks with no refund or response from Superior Attractions. She estimates several hundred travel enthusiasts attended the travelogue series. How many are due refunds is uncertain.
Jim Hegarty of the Better Business Bureau said he has been unable to contact Superior Attractions and Mike Kinsel. Hegarty said, “I want to ask him to provide an explanation on his recording and in writing to the individuals that have paid for the season and what they can expect regarding refunds.”
Six on Your Side left phone, e-mail and business card messages with Superior Attractions without response.
Joann said, “He should do the right thing and maybe he’s planning on it but I can’t tell because he’s not been findable.”
Perhaps she guesses the sponsor of the travelogue series is traveling.
