A Douglas County jury on Tuesday found Angelo Tolbert guilty of first degree murder in the shooting death of Montrell Wiseman.
Investigators say Tolbert and several other men decided to drive into a rival gang's territory and take revenge for the death of one of their cousins a few weeks earlier.
Wiseman was wearing the rival gang's colors, but his family insist he was not part of a gang.
"He was not a gang member. He was not a member of the gang life. He was a 16-year-old basketball player who went to South High School. He was a victim of retaliation of a life he did not live," said his father, Arthur Plunkett.
