There's talk of a possible merger between two major airlines facing a tight deadline and consumers are feeling better about the economy for the first time this year. Here's the Thursday Bloomberg After The Bell Report from the New York Stock Exchange.

Talks between U.S. Airways and American Airlines on a potential merger are heating up. Sources tell Bloomberg the two sides are eager to reach an agreement on who would control the combined company before confidentiality agreements expire next week. If successful, the consolidation of the two carriers would create the world's largest airline.

Stocks fell on disappointing corporate earnings and Euro debt concern.
