Day two of the stock exchange operating on power from generators in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and stocks rallied. Benchmark indexes had their biggest gains in seven weeks after better than expected reports on employment and manufacturing, and consumer confidence climbed in October to a more than four-year high. Investors now wait for Friday’s report on October jobs.
