Three Year old Suffers Dog Bite

Report filed on dog bite. The case has been forwarded to the Cass County Attorney’s Office for review of possible charges.

As reported in Cassgram on Tuesday, a 3-year-old male child was bitten on the face early Monday evening. The child suffered lacerations to the face and head. He was treated and has been released from the hospital

Law enforcement conducted the investigation and released the following on Wednesday:

Ethin Lemaster was attacked by a red-nosed pit bull while resting in a vehicle parked at Schilling Wildlife Management Area northeast of Plattsmouth, said Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann.

The report said 20-year-old Courtney Lemaster of Omaha, mother of Ethin, advised she and friends, 31-year-old Brandon Shea, 27-year-old Shannon Dehmen, and 27-year-old John Baurmeister, all of Omaha, were at Schilling WMA when Ethin became tired and was placed in their vehicle to rest. The dog, belonging to Baurmeister, was barking at other visitors at the refuge and was placed in the vehicle with the child. The group went on about their activities when their attention was directed to Ethin who was crying out; the pit-bull was observed attacking the child. The dog was pulled from the child and Shea and Lemaster immediately traveled to Plattsmouth to summon medical attention for Ethin. Plattsmouth Rescue responded and transported the child to the Bellevue Medical Center.

The dog was seized and placed with Plattsmouth Animal Control. Baurmeister was cited with harboring a dangerous dog. He released all rights of ownership and the animal will be euthanized. All fees and charges have been paid.
