Three teenagers were injured when the pickup they were riding in hit a tree in Council Bluffs Sunday morning.
One teen apparently suffered a concussion in the crash at 27th Street and 9th Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. The two other two were not badly hurt, though all were briefly trapped inside the truck.
“I ran out from the back and I saw the truck slam in the tree so I ran out, tried to rip the driver door open, but it wouldn't open, I went to the passenger door, got it open, got 'em out as quick as I could 'cause the gas was leaking," said witness Aaron Lloyd. "It wasn't a pretty sight to see.”
All three were taken to the hospital to be checked. They told police there was a mechanical problem that caused the driver to lose control of the pickup.
