Thieves Use Pit Crew Precision

A shock for several West Omaha families. Quick and quiet thieves strip sets of wheels off vehicles in the middle of the night.

Bryant McCain/Wheel Theft Victim says.Jacked it up, put bricks under and snatched the tires." The thieves attacked McCain's Suburban like a race car pit crew. McCain says:All the lug nuts sitting in the driveway, its perfectly placed on the blocks, they had to be in and out in a matter of minutes."
A few blocks away another victim woke up Monday morning to find the four wheels and tires lifted from his 2007 Avalanche. Jim Elbling said, " I bet they practiced to get it done that quick and quiet."

About two miles away and across Harrison street an alert neighbor called Jim Dyas at 5am to tell him about two men loosing lug nut son his Tahoe. Jim Dyas said, ":Adrenaline kicks in and. I wanted to protect my family and my property and I came out after them"

In the darkness he could get a good look at the suspects but left an impression. Jim Dyas ,said, " Laid my big fist on their trunk lid while yelling at them to stop." He hopes what he saw will help investigators make arrests and recover wheel sets

Back at the McCain's a mechanic from Gregg Young Chevrolet brought a new set of wheels and tires. Bryant said he'll get locking lug nuts and park in the garage.

A parts manager for the dealer told Fact Finders five customers have all four tires stolen from there vehicles. Chevy Avalanche, Pick-ups Tahoes and Suburbans are target. Factory 20 inch wheels stolen
