Brazen thieves stole a woman’s car right from the gas pump Monday night in Millard. Now she’s worried about her safety and the safety of her son.
“It was terrifying. I felt like I was in a movie,” said Bobbi Nelson. Nelson is still in shock over what transpired at Bucky’s gas station off 132nd and Q in Millard.
After prepaying for gas she couldn’t get the pump to work. She ran into the store and left her keys in the ignition. “I heard the teller as she’s trying to hurry up and get my thing done say, oh somebody just drove off. I glanced, I glanced again." Nelson ran outside and realized that it was her car that was gone.
Witnesses at the scene believe it was taken by four young men who drove up in a white Impala. Nelson’s first thought, “Is somebody actually stealing my car right now? Really?”
Then the reality sank in. Not only was her car stolen, but also her sense of security was taken from her. In her car she had her cell phone, registration with her address and her garage door opener. She couldn’t help but think the thieves could use those tools to get into her house.
"It makes you wonder, are they going to come and see what they want in my home? They wanted my car pretty bad obviously." In response she’s taken extra steps to protect herself and her son. “I activated the security system, changed the locks and I still have my handgun and I won’t be afraid to use it. Not in my home.”
Nelson’s car is a 2013 silver Toyota RAV4. If you see her car, or have any information on the car theft, you can contact police at 402-444-4041.
