Guilty pleas to two more felony theft charges.
Last year 26-year-old Jeremy R. Jakub of Lake Waconda pled no contest to two Class III Felony theft charges. The Cassgram reports this week Jakub pled guilty to two Class IV Felony theft charges.
In amending the latest charges to lesser counts in exchange for Jakub’s guilty pleas and probation violation admission, the prosecution will recommend that any prison sentences the judge decides on be served consecutively on both the new convictions and the previous convictions.
Chief Deputy Cass County Attorney Colin Palm said the two latest charges were for the thefts of a trailer and an ATV from Lake Waconda residents. Surveillance video on December 8th of last year showed a white pickup driving into the area and then later leaving towing a trailer and an ATV in the bed of the pickup. Palm said there is an accomplice who talked to authorities. That accomplice is in jail on other charges from another county and has not gone through the Cass County court system yet. The trailer has been recovered, the ATV has not.
In the sentence for the previous thefts which were also from his neighbors at Lake Waconda, Jakub was placed on probation for four years, ordered to serve 10 weekends in jail, and ordered to begin paying at least $150 monthly toward $6,769 restitution.
