Pleas entered in felony theft cases. The two separate cases involved thefts at Beaver Lake. Both men will be sentenced May 14th.
The Cassgram reports19-year-old Blake Cedar of Omaha entered guilty pleas to two theft charges, one is a Class IV Felony and the other a Class I Misdemeanor. Probation will be jointly recommended at sentencing, but part of the plea arrangement is that Cedar make restitution to the victim. Julie Bear of the public defender’s office said that could be an issue even though Chief Deputy Cass County Attorney Colin Palm said he didn’t think it would be.
Cedar was arrested last Thanksgiving morning. Sheriff’s deputies were in the Beaver Lake area taking various theft-from-vehicle reports when a 2001 GMC Yukon was reported stolen from a residence on Beaver Lake Boulevard. The vehicle was spotted and deputies arrested Cedar on Murray Road near Fire Lane southeast of Beaver Lake.
---A 22-year-old Beaver Lake man pled guilty to one theft count, a Class IV Felony. Keith Marshall will be recommended for probation. Arrangements are being made for $494 of his bond posting to go the victim for restitution. (Two other individuals involved in the thefts have already made restitution.)
Marshall was convicted for in his part in which two mint condition rifles and a small TV were stolen from a camper parked in the driveway of a Beaver Lake home last October.
All the stolen items were recovered but there was damage to the guns so restitution was warranted, said the prosecution.
