Even with school being out, there was a lot of action under the big top in downtown Omaha.
The 84th annual Shrine Circus took center ring with a special showing at the Civic Auditorium Friday morning.
Area school children who completed the DARE program were in attendance.
Organizers were hoping for a crowd of 6,800...total attendance was well under that for this morning showing.
But that didn't damper the enthusiasm of the performers.
"It was the idea that the show must go on,” Susan Beebe of the Shrine Circus said. “Our shrine performers are here in town so why not? And that's what we do so there's somebody here to see it and we're going to give them a show."
There are seven showings planned, one Thursday night and one Friday evening, three on Saturday and two more on Sunday.
