Teens Encouraged to Attend Training

The Omaha Police Department is taking registrations for those between the ages of 15-19 for a mini-academy where they'll learn about police procedures and its role in the community.

OPD Crime Prevention Specialist Theola Cooper sat down with First News Live at Four anchor Brian Mastre to explain the benefits of attending four days of night school.

The program begins Monday, June 3 and wraps up on Thursday, June 6 at the NE Police Precinct, 30th and Taylor.

It's free and open to those between the ages of 15-19.

Participants will learn about the department and its operations. They'll also have a Q & A with Chief Todd Schmaderer.

Pre-register by May 20 at the front desk at the NE Precinct.
