Four young Lincoln men have been arrested for burglary. When you see their mug shots, you might be wondering what the story is behind one of them. We found out.
Police tell Channel 6 News that the four were responsible for five home burglaries this week. In each case, the home was entered while the victims were sleeping.
At 3:14 a.m. Monday, a window was shattered at a house in the 2400 block of South 14th Street and a purse was taken. Seven minutes later, a door was kicked in at a home in the 1400 block of Arapahoe Street but nothing was taken.
Then at 6 a.m. the same morning, thieves entered a home through an unsecured door in the 4000 block of Fiene Boulevard. Four long guns, a camera, and a purse were taken.
At 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, thieves entered a home through an unsecured door in the 1200 block of Idylwild and stole a Honda CRV, electronics, and jewelry.
Then at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, thieves entered a home through an unsecured door in the 3200 block of Browning Street. A computer and video games were stolen. The homeowner woke up and confronted the thieves and was hit with his own Nintendo Wii. He suffered a large gash to the bridge of his nose. He reported two people fled through the back door.
At 1:48 a.m. Wednesday, the stolen Honda CRV was found fully engulfed in flames behind the Acher Arms at 1334 S. 33rd Street. After the fire was extinguished, police dusted the vehicle for fingerprints and found one that matched suspect 18-year-old Tayler Woods. On Wednesday afternoon, three other suspects attempted to pawn the stolen computer. Randolph Pawn refused the transaction and called police.
Police arrested Woods, 18-year old Jonathan Mundo, 17-year-old Eliza Mendoz, and 18-year old Mark Fotopulos.
Police say in his mug shot, you can see Fotopulos suffered burn injuries during the arson to his face. He also had minor burns to his hands. All four suspects will face burglary charges. Fotopulos and Woods will also face charges of first degree arson.
