The first one happened at 11:45 a.m. near North 19th and Knox streets. Police say a maintenance worker at The Willows Apartments noticed a screen door cut and someone inside who was not the tenant. When the worker called 911, the suspect fled.
The second burglary occurred around 2 p.m. at a home near North 48th and Judson streets where a witness saw two males carrying out a television and other electronics. The witness followed the two as they ran and loaded the items into a van.
Police spotted the van near Capitol Beach driving recklessly. It hit a parked truck near NW 9th and Lakeshore where the suspects ran from the vehicle, but were soon captured.
Eighteen-year-old Mat Duoth was arrested for burglary, willful reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license. A 15-year-old boy was taken to the youth detention center for burglary, trespassing, failure to comply and resisting arrest.
All of the stolen items were recovered.
