Police are investigating the death of a 15-year-old Council Bluffs girl on Saturday.
Mireya Mata-Alvarez was found in the back seat of car parked behind the JC Penney store at the Marketplace mall at South 24th Street and 34th Avenue around 10:15 a.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Mata-Alvarez had been out all night with two other girls and five boys and police believe they had been drinking and smoking marijuana.
Foul play is not suspected, though the Pottawattamie County Attorney will review the case to determine whether to charge any of the those who were with Mata-Alvarez. Police are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results.
Officials at Lewis Central High School say she had dropped out. Co-worker Diana Montelongo said Mata-Alvarez was an outgoing girl who did not seem to party often.
