A teenager was killed trying to climb aboard a slow-moving train in Des Moines Sunday morning.
Police say the boy was waiting with friends at a railroad crossing shortly after 1 a.m. when he tried to board the train while it was moving, possibly so he could cross to the other side. The teen fell and got caught beneath one of the cars and was dragged.
The train operator was notified and stopped the cars while police investigated. Several rail crossings were blocked through the early morning hours.
The victim's name was not released.
