A world record attempt was made in the metro and it was a tough one to be a participant in, the largest dessert dinner.

Over 600 Physicians Mutual employees and their family members joined together Friday night for their annual picnic and decided to attempt a Guinness World Record just to shake things up.

This is the most people to gather to eat dessert in one sitting but for the Muirhead family, the attempt did prove to be a challenge, waiting to eat their dessert was the hardest part of the competition.

"It was really good, it was surprisingly decent stuff, I enjoyed it. It was, it was a long wait, about 20 minutes I think,” David Muirhead said. “I just think it is really neat, i didn't know of any other world record opportunities in Omaha and I just thought it was a real neat thing to be part of,” Michelle said.

The delicious dessert items included chocolate covered strawberries, brownies, Pina Coloda cupcakes-- and the list goes on. They did successfully break the record -- the event will be put on the Guinness Book of World Records web site.
