Mayor Jim Suttle spoke glowingly of Omaha in his State of the City address Thursday afternoon.
The mayor told a crowd at the University of Nebraska Medical Center there are several reasons the city weathered the recession so well.
“It was a collaborative effort between the city getting its financial house in order and then the businesses also maintaining their success and then being able to start expanding themselves. So that's why our economy is starting to boom. Your city is on a sound foundation. The hard work is paying off throughout the rough times and rough edges that we've had, particularly in 2009, 2010, the flood of 2011. We've survived all of that and the future is bright."
