Suspect Hits Light Pole, Flees

A short chase ends in a crash and officers on the scene calling for help.

Police pulled the vehicle over at around 7:00pm Tuesday because they believed the car had fake places. That's when the suspects sped away, and vehicle ended up wrapped around a light pole at 40th & Pratt St.

When the driver and passenger run in different directions a “Help An Officer” call goes out to catch the suspects. The driver was caught in a near-by yard, while the passenger got into a vehicle and took off.

"It was kind of frightening because the one was chasing and the one that fell in the street, I figured it might have been something really bad. I didn't know if there was going to be any gunshots though," said Wanda Garcia, a witness to the crash.

A downed power line was lying in the middle of the road. OPPD quickly took care of the problem.

Police say they've had contact with this driver before, and he does have priors. Garcia says the passenger looked badly injured before flagging down the other vehicle, and fleeing the scene.

The driver, who was believed to be in his 40's, resisted arrest and could face a handful of charges. Police have notified area hospitals to be on the lookout for the passenger because they want to make sure he’s ok.
