A family in Ralston is trying to figure out what happened after someone drove by and shot at their house.
The incident has police scratching their heads too.
It happened Monday night at around 11: 30 p.m. near 77th and Highland.
Two adults and four children were sleeping inside, when suddenly they heard a series of gunshots.
Rose Jones, the homeowner, can't understand it.
“I really thought, 'God don't let anything happen to my kids.' I mean, we have a house full of children here. I thought 'Well who would be so cruel as to hit a house with a lot of children?'” she asks.
When the shots fired, she and her daughter moved the kids to the central part of the house, and waited for police.
In a search of the home, police found several bullet holes inside, and several shell casings outside.
Heather Jones says it was too close.
“It's scary for the thought of my kids. It could have been my little sister. If it had been this other room, it would have been my little sister, you know? That's what's scary. It could have been my family,” she says.
Police don't know who pulled the trigger.
All they're saying is the bullets likely came from a semi-automatic handgun.
The Jones' say they have no idea why someone would do this.
They're afraid the shooter might come back.
“I hope they catch whoever did it, and put him, or her, whatever, away. I mean, we can't live in fear all our lives. That's about what'll happen if they don't catch them,” says Rose.
If you have any information on the case that could help the family, report it to the Ralston Police Department.
