Labor Day weekend is considered to be the unofficial end of summer, but apparently Mother Nature didn't get the memo because it’s still hot.
Saturday was the perfect day for kids to cool off by splashing around at Stinson Park. Brandon Diegel brought his son Jeremiah to one of their favorite spots. “This was definitely a staple for our summer trips. Jeremiah would like to come play in the water and play on the playground here."
The splash pad will be closed after Monday so many families came by to enjoy their final days in the water. “I'll miss summer a little,” said 8-year-old Ella De Smet.
On the other side of the park, children were having fun on the playground. Melba Hooker brought her three grandsons, part of her plan to try and beat the heat. “That's why we are out early. The rest of the day we plan to be inside. We even barbecued early last night so we could have that done."
Andrea Kelly and her family had a similar idea. Her husband and son loved the playground. They plan on enjoying this three-day weekend and it's going to be sad to say so-long to summer. "It's kind of sad to see it go because we got started so late and we haven't really had time to enjoy the summer like we normally do, but I'm looking forward to the cooler temperatures."
Which just might be here by the time autumn officially starts September 22nd.
