Style Proud Fashion Show

It's Fashion Week extended with clothes you'll find in the back of a closet or at the Goodwill Store, because that is where the designers found them.

Omaha North High School students with a flair for design were given money from a grant to purchase clothing at Goodwill and re-purpose them for a fashion show.

Forty-three designers showed their work at the 2nd Annual Style Proud Fashion Event at UNO Thursday afternoon. "They get to go from beginning to end and see what it is to be a designer," said Maria Margaritis. "It's only one garment, but it is a lot of work. It's during the semester but they get to see it on a live model who is a professional."

Also at the event, but not showing any designs on the catwalk, is Omaha native and designer Kate Walz. Walz is 13 years old, but has already had creations shown at fashion shows around the world.
