October is Bully Prevention Month and students at Papillion’s Hickory Hill Elementary School aren’t just showing their support against bullying, they're wearing it, too.

Students wore green on Thursday to show respect towards others, part of their Spirit Week activities to encourage discussion about what bullying looks like.

The student council has organized weekly skits to show what to do if you are being bullied or see it done to someone else. "I've learned that not just physically and mentally, that's not the only type of bullying,” said sixth-grader Megan Bottass. “There's cyberbullying and it’s just so bad because it's tearing our nation apart with all the kids and the schools, it’s just not good."

The skits cover cyberbullying, bullying on the playground and bullying in the hallway at school. “One was a bad skit, like about the bullies and then one was a good one about how you should treat each other and stuff and the third one was what if you saw someone on the playground getting bullied, what should you do and it's a really good way to help students learn," said Bottass.

Students have been wearing different colors based on the school's behavioral plan with red symbolizing safety, yellow for learning and blue showing responsibility.

Hickory Hill is also showcasing its motto, “Bullies Take, Hickory Hill Gives," by organizing a clothing drive that continues all month.
