Student Allegedly Admits Hacking School's Computer Network

Channel 6 News has obtained a copy of a search warrant that was issued for a Millard High School. The document details how a student used an application on his cell phone to hack into the school's computer network.

According to court documents, the Horizon High School student was then able have official, private school business directed to his cell phone. Investigators say the hacking went on for three days before the school computer expert traced the activity to the student, who allegedly admitted to what was going on.

Horizon High is an alternative high school in Millard, located in the area of 204th and F Streets.

Millard Public Schools spokeswoman Amy Friedman says, “We’re cooperating fully with the sheriff’s department and we consider this very serious. We understand it could be a felony and we would press charges.”

So far, the student has not been charged with any crimes.
