An afternoon of play turned serious quickly Sunday when a boy playing in the mud became stuck.
Eight-year-old Adam Faulk was playing in a vacant lot next to his house near 102nd and Harrison in La Vista, where construction workers dug a hole in the ground a few days ago. “So like I kept on screaming until someone like um came and helped."
Neighbors heard the screams and alerted Adam's father, who was mowing the lawn. It took some maneuvering before Adam was pulled free with no injuries. His father is thankful nothing worse happened.
“I wasn't surprised because I have been aware that this massive hole all weekend long and neighborhood kids, my kids, have been playing around it too, so in the back of my mind it was possible something could happen like this,” said Chris Faulk, who called the construction company Saturday to see if they could put up a fence. He plans to follow up again on Monday.
