State Games Begin This Weekend

The sight of 93 flags representing all Nebraska counties circling the stadium and waving in the breeze makes it hard to contain the excitement for the start of the 2011 Cornhusker State Games. The Olympic-style Parade of Athletes allows participants from each sport to walk proudly around the stadium.

Other entertainment includes a live performance from Lincoln's very own D*Funk, a mascot obstacle challenge, skydivers, helicopter arrival, the Oath of Athletes and a freestyle MotoX exhibition.

D*Funk is a dynamic and diverse, seven piece band that plays a heavy dose of Funk/Rhythm & Blues, as well as hits of today. The band has great fan base all across Nebraska and will provide a high energy, high entertainment concert that everyone will enjoy! To learn more about D*Funk, visit www.dfunkband.com.

Of course, the night would not be complete until the identity of the mystery torch lighter is revealed and the 2011 Cornhusker State Games begin with the lighting of the cauldron. As the program concludes and the fireworks finale begins, it will be easy to see why the Cornhusker State Games is truly something special for all Nebraskans.

Admission for the Opening Ceremonies is FREE for registered athletes via the All-Star Pass (included in the athlete packet or team box). Athletes must present All-Star Pass for free admission. Children under the age of 6 are also admitted for no charge. Students (K–12) may enter for $3. Admission, including dinner, is $7 for all other guests.
