The group of men that take part in Mustaches for Kids Omaha each year are getting their razors ready to start off their month long mustache growing experience with a clean shave. On Wednesday, the charity that will benefit from their hairy experiment was announced.
2013 marks the 5th year for the charity, each year proceeds from the 4 week growing campaign go to support a different charity. This year, Make-A-Wish Nebraska will benefit from the donations raised by growers.
M4K Omaha is still recruiting new members to grow a mustache for the cause. "The only qualification is that you are willing to look awesome and grow a sweet mustache for one month," organizers said.
The growing starts on May 2nd and finishes up on June 1st.
Each grower will be expected to collect pledges and donations for their efforts, which will in turn go to Make-A-Wish Nebraska.
In the past four years, Mustaches for Kids has brought in $320,000.
Make-A-Wish Nebraska is excited to be part of this hairy fundraiser. “I’ve dreamed of the day I could sport my ‘70s stache again and it couldn’t be for a better cause.” said Bob Leavitt, Board Chair of Make-A-Wish Nebraska. “This year is our 30th anniversary and we are looking at granting another record year of wishes. And unique fundraisers such as this will help grant wishes to some very deserving Omaha children.”
Make-A-Wish grants wishes for critically or terminally ill children all over the country and throughout Nebraska.
