In the wake of a series of mass shootings, the Marion, Iowa Police Department is looking to buy semi-automatic guns for its officers.
Currently, only the SWAT team carries these rifles. Marion's police chief says he doesn't want responders to be at a disadvantage on the streets. The City Council is expected to vote on the purchase this week.
Marion, population around 35,000, is located just east of Cedar Rapids.
