They take entertainment seriously and they make up many of the area's best show choirs. Saturday, they went head to head in "Singsation" at Millard West High School.

The event has quickly grown into one of the premiere choir competitions and it gives the various groups an idea of how well they perform. The competition also spurs the groups to create bigger and more complicated pieces.

"They're really moving to a different style of show," said co-chairwoman Lori Stohs. "Some of the schools have a more theatrical experience versus standing up there and singing and dancing. Some of them change costumes three or four times, they have a theatrical event."

Organizers had to turn some groups away since the competition is capped at 22. There were also overflow rooms available for those who could not find a seat in the auditorium.
