Should Nebraska's Constitution Protect Right To Hunt?

LR 40CA is a legislative resolution that would change the Nebraska constitution to protect the right to hunt, fish, and trap.

Omaha Senator Pete Pirsch, who introduced the measure, says hunting and fishing is a valued part of Nebraska heritage and people should have that right forever preserved.

Omaha Senator Brenda Council argues the issue trivializes the Nebraska constitution. She adds that the bill is nothing more than advancing the agenda of special interest groups.

If approved by the legislature and signed by Governor Dave Heineman, the measure would then be placed on a ballot for Nebraskans to vote on.
