Omaha Police believe shots fired outside a party in north Omaha are responsible for a string of events that unfolded around 3:30 Sunday morning.

The driver of one car may have been trying to flee the area when he missed the turn and ended up taking out the light pole at 23rd and Manderson.

The accident also cut the power to an area several square blocks around that intersection.
When officers arrived on scene the driver and any occupants were gone.

At the same time officers in the area tried to pull over another vehicle. The driver fled and so the officers pursued him. The suspect, Robert McDonald, got out of the car and ran on foot, but officers were able to catch him and take him into custody.

McDonald was booked for felony flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, DUS, and obstructing a peace officer.
