She was shot 11 times and survived. But her 16-year-old cousin didn't make it. Nakia Johnson spoke out for the first time Thursday afternoon. It’s a night she’ll never forget.

“Every day I think about her, everyday,” said Nakia Johnson.

Johnson is talking about 16-year-old Eriana Carr. Carr was shot and killed in front of her home October 30th. The two were walking toward her house when they noticed a Nissan Altima drive by and eventually stop as they crossed the street.

“We turned around because we thought that they were going to ask us a question because they rolled the window down and they started shooting,” said Johnson.

11 of those shots hit Johnson. She fell to the ground. Eriana lay dying just feet away.

“I got up and walked through the gate I was yelling at Eriana like 'come on sis we got to get up and get in the house and call the police',” said Johnson.

Neighbors rushed to help Johnson. Hours later she'd learn that Eriana didn't make it.

“I just think about it because I kind of think it's my fault you know. People say it's not your fault. You didn't pull the trigger. But it's like, he was after me and she just happened to be with me,” said Johnson.

Johnson didn't see who shot at them from the car but she thinks she knows who did it.

“I just can't imagine that somebody would randomly just see two girls walking and going into their yard and then just say okay I’m about to shoot these girls and as many times as he shot me,” said Carr.

Still, none of that will ever replace the loss of Eriana that night.

Police have arrested a man who Nakia says threatened her with a gun just two days before the shooting. His name is Tracy Parnell. Parnell has not been charged with anything related to the shooting.

He does have a criminal record. He is a convicted felon. The 21-year-old has served time for his role in a robbery and for owning a defaced gun.
