Shoplifting Suspect Assaults Officer, Arrested

Omaha police arrested two people after receiving a "help an officer" call from an off-duty officer working security at Gordmans.

According to police reports, the officer tried to stop a shoplifting suspect; however, the suspect, 26-year-old Blake Bunz, punched the officer several times before he took off running. Additional officers arrived with a K9 and found Bunz.

A second suspect, 28-year-old Brooke Brumbaugh, was also found across the street. Both suspects were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center for treatment of injuries, then released and booked into jail.

Bunz was arrested for felony shoplifting and assault on an officer. Brumbaugh was booked for felony shoplifting.
