An Omaha girl, shot and seriously injured while celebrating her sixth birthday Thursday, has been released from the hospital. Police continue the hunt for the person who fired the gun.
Taelor Fentress was struck by a bullet near North 41st and Ida Streets around 7 p.m. and taken to Alegent Creighton University Medical Center by private vehicle. She was later transferred to Children's Hospital and Medical Center and has since been released.
A WOWT 6 News crew observed multiple bullet holes in the family's home. In an effort to curb any retaliation violence in the area, the Omaha Police Department has increased its patrol presence.
Police have not yet made any arrests; however, they have identified persons of interest. Surveillance video of the suspect's vehicle shows a light-colored SUV.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP or you can use the link on the WOWT Crime Stoppers page. Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest.
