Races could be tight in elections south of Omaha.

Legislative District 2 office will return to the regular four year cycle in the 2014 election year. Bill Kintner was elected to a two year term in the 2012 elections. That was after Paul Lambert served a one year term as a governor’s appointee in 2012. Dave Pankonin had been elected in 2010 to a four year term but then resigned after the 2011 session to oversee family business interests.

The Cassgram reports there will be two mayoral elections in the county in 2014, in Plattsmouth and in Weeping Water.

There will be a seat open in each of four wards on the Plattsmouth City Council and two city council members elected at large in both Louisville and Weeping Water. There will be three trustee seats up for election in the villages of Alvo, Avoca, Cedar Creek, Elmwood, Murray, Nehawka and South Bend and two seats in Eagle, Manley, Murdock, and Union.
