Bad accident on Highway 50 southwest of the metro. The collision involved a 2007 Mack truck and a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. One female patient was flown from the scene by LifeNet helicopter to the trauma unit at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
The Cassgram reports the 911 dispatch was made at 5:14pm. The collision occurred just south of the Platte River Bridge. Louisville Volunteer Fire and Rescue requested the medical helicopter shortly after arriving on scene.
The accident was investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol and the full report was not yet available. But the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, which handled traffic control, was able to provide some information this morning. The sheriff’s department report says Nikkie M. Ball, age 32, Manley, was the driver of the Volkswagen and Rory R. Cartsens, age 50, Holstein, Iowa was the driver of the semi.
A UNMC spokeswoman told Cassgram this morning that Ball was listed in good condition at the hospital.
Highway 50 was closed from Main Street at Louisville to north of the bridge in Sarpy County until the investigation was completed
There were leaking fluids from both vehicles so Cass County Emergency Management Agency also responded to the scene.
