A committee has been named to find a new chancellor for the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
The university announced Wednesday that the 14-member panel will seek a replacement for Chancellor Harold Maurer. Maurer is stepping down June 30 to lead a fundraising effort for the university's cancer center project.
The panel includes representatives for university faculty, administrators, students and the private sector. UNMC pathology and microbiology professor James Linder will serve as the committee's chairman.
The committee will work with consultants from Isaacson, Miller, a search firm with experience recruiting candidates for other health-science centers.
University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken says he hopes to have a permanent chancellor in place by July 1, 2013.
