Ten year old Madison Purdy is on a mission to find the perfect combination.

“We've never tried these,” she said.

She’s look for the best deals on fireworks for her families 4th of July celebration.

“This is where we've come every year,” Jennifer Purdy of Omaha said.

But up until this year, it was illegal to buy and set off fireworks in Omaha and Douglas County. Believe it or not people are coming all the way from Douglas County to Sarpy County either because they know they have the fireworks they've always wanted or they want to support a good cause.

In this case, the cause is Cornerstone Christian Church in Bellevue. But Purdy has been coming here since she was a child.

“This is where I know so I come here,” Purdy said.

But Purdy isn’t the only one making the trip.

“Really we have not seen any difference at our stand. We find the regulars keep coming,” said Teri Lynn Schrag with Bellevue Cornerstone Christian School.

But over at the 55th Aircraft Maintenance Squad tent in Papillion.

“It's probably gonna pick up later on this week. But it's definitely been real slow,” Torre Anderson said.

Organizers here say people aren't making the trip from Douglas County but they're still getting support.

Back in Bellevue the Purdy's are set.

“Well we got some cool fire works. We got some good deals,” Purdy said.

You can purchase fireworks in Douglas and Sarpy Counties between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:00 pm through Monday. You can set them off until midnight on the 4th of July.
