Enticement Reports Investigated

Parents in Gretna are keeping an extra eye on children.

This is after two incidents yesterday leading Sarpy County law enforcement to investigate reports of enticement.

So far, there's no proof of enticement that's been found, but investigators are taking other suspicious activity very seriously.

18-year-old Justin Norman was arrested Thursday morning anfter an incidents reported yesterday.

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Department says he approached a five-year-old in his vehicle, but then the boy's mother intervened.

“The mother felt very uneasy based on the conversation she heard,” says Lt. Chris Culler, of the Sarpy County Sheriff's Department.

Later on, the school district sent out a notice of another incident around the Amber Vista area.

There was a report of three males approaching a young girl in a similar vehicle, offering her candy.

The sheriff's department says it hasn't found proof of enticement, so Norman is being charged with disturbing the peace.

Still, it's a case they're taking seriously.

“Could it be that someone is just being stupid? Yeah, it could be, but we can't count on that. We take it very seriously. It's not something we're just going to disregard as teenagers being teenagers,” says Lt. Culler.

For parents in the area, they say whatever the suspects' intentions were, it's not right.

“It kind of makes you want to keep your kids inside, and not let them go outside and play, and joke or not, it's funny to do that to little people,” says Ashleigh Preston, a mother.

The sheriff's department says this activity increases with warmer weather.

“Don't discount anything, if you see something that makes you feel uneasy, absolutely give us a call. That's what we're here for,” says Lt. Culler.

Police are still investigating both incidents.

They're still looking for other suspects as well.

Norman has also been charged with criminal mischief, from a different incident on Wednesday when he intentionally damaged a windshield.
