The beginning of several holiday traditions in the metro began Wednesday evening. Papillion is getting the jump on the rest of us with a tree lighting ceremony on Thanksgiving eve.
"Three, two, one -- yeahooooooo!" cheered the crowds of thousands at Shadow Lake Towne Center as the lights came on the tree in the middle of the mall.
We saw Santa, the Grinch, Winnie the Pooh -- even the Papillion - La Vista South Marching Band.
After the ceremony, everyone looked up at the fireworks.
Seth Guffey: "I love fireworks. Fireworks are awesome."
Connor Slump: "Yeah -- pretty much the same thing. Fireworks are awesome."
This is the 6th annual tree lighting ceremony at the Papillion outdoor shopping mall.
