The National Weather Service continues the heat advisory through Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures once again on Tuesday will rise to the upper 90s however high humidity will make it feel like 105 to 110 degrees.
The Salvation Army is adjusting community cooling center schedules for people who need a break from the extreme heat. Cooling stations opened on Monday and will remain operating at the times on the following schedule:
Tuesday, June 25 through Thursday, June 27 – 8:00 am – 8:00 pm:
-Kroc Center, 2825 Y Street
-North Corps, 2424 Pratt Street
-Lied Renaissance Center, 3612 Cuming Street
- Council Bluffs, 715 N 16 Street (hours may vary, call ahead 712.328.2088)
Cold drinks will be provided to anyone seeking respite from the hot weather. Cooling stations will open when temperatures reach 90 degrees or above for three consecutive days.
The Salvation Army is in great need of donations of new fans and bottled water, or money to purchase these items. To donate online, click the link below. Bottled water and new fans can be dropped off any time of day at The Salvation Army, 3612 Cuming Street.
