Members of Omaha's Latino community gathered today at 24th and N St. to pay respect to the American flag and to celebrate those who have served to protect our nation.
Community leaders installed a wreath at the Plaza de la Raza this afternoon near south 24th and N.
They also honored the soldiers from their community who died to protect this country all the way back since World War Two.
"It's important history to give root to give a sense of belonging to a community and this is what we need in this community a sense of belonging," Organizer Jose Francisco Garcia said.
Several South Omaha organizations sponsored today's event.
