They're quilts like you've probably never seen before and you can check them out in Omaha. The Sacred Threads Art Quilt Exhibit opened Sunday at the Sunderland Gallery.
The gallery is located right behind St. Cecilia's Cathedral. The exhibit features 39 pieces from the original display in Washington, D.C. of 231.
Some of the quilts are so elaborate, they look more like paintings. Curator Teri Quinn said, "This is a very different quilt show. It's not a quilt show of quilts in the type of bed covers or something you cuddled with when you were a youngster. These are art quilts, they're very emotional, very spiritual."
The exhibit will be on display through November 10th and admission is free. The gallery is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11am - 4pm. Also, Saturday, from 10am - 2pm.
