Credit Union robbery investigation active over the weekend . The Cassgram reports an FBI investigator, two Plattsmouth Police Department investigators, a Cass County Sheriff’s Department investigator and police officers were following up on leads and served a search warrant late Saturday afternoon at a location in Plattsmouth.
It was on Friday morning about 6:45am that a female employee reporting for work at the Sac Federal Credit Union branch in Plattsmouth was approached by two men armed with a handgun. They had emerged from the bushes on the backside of the building. They entered the building with her and then left with two cash drawers, running back in the direction they came from (east of the building). (see Friday Cassgram) The woman was unharmed, said Plattsmouth Police Chief Steve Rathman.
The cash drawers were found Saturday morning in the wooded area to the east of the Plattsmouth Eagles Club.
Later on Saturday police set up a surveillance of another area and questioned those coming and going from a building. The investigators later entered that building with a search warrant. No information has been released as to whether any evidence linked to the bank robbery was found.
A check with the Cass County Jail this morning indicates no one was booked on suspicion of armed robbery.
Police released more information about the two suspects:
1) Male subject approximately 6’0” tall with an average build, age range between 20 to 30 years old. The subject was wearing a black stocking cap with “NE” printed in white lettering on it, had a white bandana covering his face, dark athletic shoes with white soles, dark designer “True Religion” blue jeans, a blue zip up jacket with white lettering down the left sleeve (unknown what it spelled out). The subject also had a blue back pack on his back that had the United States Air Force logo on it.
2) Male subject approximately 6’0” tall with a stocky build, age range between 20 to 30 years old. The subject was wearing a black athletic “hoody” type sweatshirt, dark shoes, dark blue “Levis” brand jeans and a black nylon hood/face mask covering his face.
(A surveillance camera picture of the suspects in the building is at www.cassgram.com.)
Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call the Omaha FBI field office at 402-493-8688 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-493-8688.
Some of the actions of the suspects closely resemble actions from the movie “The Town”, said a news release. The thieves in the movie used a ‘splash and dash’ technique using bleach to cover their tracks after thefts. Police scanner reports after officers arrived on scene at Sac Federal Credit Union Friday noted the odor of bleach at the location.
