Robbers Use Rocks and Cinder Blocks To Break Into Small Businesses

It's rarely good when arriving at work only to find police.

On November 7th Krypton Comics owner Dean Phillips said the thieves came in and stole cash.

"They didn't take anything else, it was just a smash and grab, try to get as much money as possible I guess," said Phillips.

Break-ins aren't common at the comic shop, but for the Sundowner Bar in Bellevue and Cuppycakes in Omaha it's not the first time they've seen shattered glass.

"It's really frustrating because this is the second time in six weeks we have gotten hit," said Shari Preister, Cuppycakes Owners.

The method to break-in, seems to be same across the board.

"At the Sundowner it was a cinder block. At Cuppycakes and Krypton Comics, rocks were used. Either way, with items like these most glass doors and windows wouldn't stand a chance.

Thankfully, alarms saved Cuppycakes. The thieves left the store empty handed.

Other owners are putting their hope in video surveillance.

In the meantime, Phillips has a message for the robbers.

"I think people need to go out and get a job and leave us alone. We are just trying to feed our families too," said Phillips.
