Roads Open After Flood Repairs

Roads now open after flooding.Others to close for repairs.

It is the last re-opening of a county road impacted by flood factors. Work was being completed Friday on Beach Road north of Plattsmouth. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad had raised its tracks to keep them open during the summer flooding. Cass County recently hired a contractor to move about 4000 yards of dirt to raise the approach to the tracks.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is re-opening the eastbound lanes of Highway 2 from the Nebraska City Bridge to Interstate 29 at 4pm today.

There will be two-way traffic in the eastbound lanes. All four lanes of Highway 2 are expected to re-open sometime before January 1st.

Highway 2 closed in late June because of extensive flooding from the swollen Missouri River.

The eastbound I-80 exit at the Waverly Interchange, Exit 409, will close at 9pm on Wednesday (10/26) so a new exit loop can be constructed. It is anticipated that the exit will be closed for 24 days.
