Tricia Trebilcock and her family are still in shock over a recent crash that took the life of their son.
"Matt was a really sweet kid, a lot of friends, really respectful to people. He was a really good boy," said Tricia.
Matthew Doty was just 19 years old. His father Kevin Doty remembers the knock at the door on Friday, then rushing to the hospital.
But before they could get to the hospital, they drove straight by the accident scene.
"I seen the truck flipped, I kinda knew then ya know, I had a feeling it was Matt under the sheet, but I didn't really know," said Kevin.
Matthew was one of the passengers in the truck. The driver was 30 year old Evan Shiplett. Police said alcohol, speed and reckless driving are believed to have caused this crash.
"It's kinda irritating, that a grown man should have known not to do that," said Matthew's friend, Shay Bales.
Bales lives in the same apartment complex as both Shiplett and Doty.
The family is waiting for answers and trying to hold onto their best memories with Matthew.
"Me and him were just really close, we were like best friends, and always talked and everything," said sister, Makayla Trebilcock.
Matthew was Kevin's only child. Now pictures on the mantel and pictures in photo albums are what remain of the smiling, well loved 19 year old.
"He was a good kid, you hear stories about kids drinking and driving and getting into accidents, but you never think it will happen to you and your kid ya know," said Kevin.
Omaha police said Shiplett is still being treated for his injuries at Nebraska Medical Center. They expect him to be released tomorrow. Charges are still pending.
There was another passenger in the truck,19 year-old Jacob Levene. He walked away unharmed.
Matthew's family said they're still working on funeral preparations. They should know more Monday, September 9th.
