Relay For Life Events Planned

Nebraska Students Take Up Cancer Fight Through
Relay For Life Events.

Many Nebraska high school and college students will be putting down the books and staying up all night this spring to take up the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society hosts six of its signature Relay For Life events specifically with college and high school students in mind. This year, students from Creighton University, Doane College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska at Omaha will host Relay For Life events on their campuses. In addition, high schools from across the Omaha area will combine for a one-of-a-kind Omaha Youth event at the Omaha Sports Complex.

“People can be touched by cancer at any age,” commented Heather Knight, community manager for the American Cancer Society and staff partner for the Creighton and UNO events.

Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones and raise money for the fight against cancer. Relay For Life unites people from all walks of life at the largest fundraising walk in the nation. Teams seek sponsorship prior to the Relay, all with the goal of supporting a cure for cancer.

The American Cancer Society is always looking for students to organize and recruit teams, seek community support, coordinate logistics, find refreshments and prizes, plan entertainment and lend their support in any way.
