Tuesday marked the beginning of Red Ribbon week at LaVista schools. Students at G. Stanley Hall elementary school came to class dressed in red to help raise awareness of drug abuse prevention.
By participating in the weeks activities the students are making a promise to be drug free.
The rest of the week will include varied activities all intended to teach kids about drug abuse prevention. Counselor Sara Jarding says "we talk a lot about how to say no, steps to saying no, we talk about peer pressure and just to raise a lot of awareness with the kids."
