Recycling Refrigerators

The program allows OPPD customers to collect $35 when they turn
their older, energy-wasting refrigerators over to a pick-up crew.

Last year, program officials collected nearly 2,100 inefficient
units.

The program was such a hit last year that it ran out of money
with 177 units on a waiting list. The program allows for the
removal of up to two units per household.

The program will run through October, or until it runs out of
money.

OPPD customers who want to schedule a pick-up can call
866-444-9160 .

OPPD is one of the nation's largest customer-owned electric
utilities, with more than 340,000 customers in 13 eastern Nebraska
counties.
